Flexible configuration &
reliable performance
INSTALLATION
The standard procedure for
installation is to insert the probe
through a ball valve directly into the
process itself. The benefits of direct
installation is faster response, easy
installation, and cost effectiveness.
The ball valve enables the probe to
be installed or removed without
draining or shutting down the
process, whether it be a pipe
system, tank or test chamber.
The probe may also be installed
after a ball valve to a so called "leak
position". The probe can then be
equipped with a special bleed
screw through which the process
gas will flow steadily past the
sensor into open air. This bleed
position is recommended for
improving response time when the
Options and accessories
The DMP248 transmitters can be tailored for your application
SERIAL INTERFACE
MODULES
Often several transmitters are
connected to one bus, or a
transmitter is connected to a
computer or some peripheral
device. This can be done easily
via the serial interface. All
DMP248 transmitters have an
RS 232C interface as a standard
feature. The transmitters can also
be fitted with an RS 485/422
interface module or a digital
current loop module as an option.
POWER SUPPLY MODULE
The power supply module can be
used when only mains voltage
(115/230 VAC) is available.
DISPLAY/KEYPAD COVER
The display/keypad option
displays the measurements at the
point of installation. It also makes
the DMP248 transmitters simple
and easy-to-use: the menus help
the user to configure and operate
the transmitter.
ALARM RELAYS
For applications where adjustable
on/off alarm control is needed, the
alarm relay option is the solution.
Alarm relays include two SPCO
(single pole change over) type
relays with 8A / 230V contacts.
They are easy to adjust with a
display keypad or through RS 232.
probe can not be installed into the
main stream of the process.
However, in some cases the probe
cannot be installed into the process.
This may be the case for small
diameter pipes and in very high
temperatures or dirty processes.
Using a sample cell, to which the
probe can be fitted, a
representative sample of
pressurized process gas can be
measured outside the process.
Additional components (e.g. filter,
cooling coil) may be used between
the process and the sample cell.
For applications where the gas
cannot be vented (e.g. non-
pressurized processes, toxic gases)
or a total solution for the sampling is
needed, a configurable sample
system may be purchased. The
sampling system serves as a
controlled method for continuous
monitoring of a representative
sample of gas. The sampling
system would operate within the
sensor’s specifications and ensure a
clean environment enhancing the
sensor’s performance.
Filter options: a standard sintered
filter (left) or a stainless steel filter
for vacuum applications.
SAMPLING SYSTEMS
For aggressive applications, a
configurable sampling system,
DSS10, may be ordered for
additional control of the sampling
gas. This will protect the sensor
from extreme conditions related to
high temperatures and particulates
in the carrier gas.
SAMPLE CELL
The DMP248 probe fits directly to
the sample cell, which can be used
for sample flow measurements.
BALL VALVE SET
The ball valve set enables direct
installation of the probe into the
process without causing process
downtime.
